Pop into the men's room at a hotel with marble floors please. You'll never use it after looking near the urinals.

Maybe ill just tell the kiddos and hubs to use the other bathrooms instead and i can have my gorg. marble 😬

Some of the newer porcelain tiles look very much like marble. You can have the best of both worlds, that way. :-)

Age does terrible things to the human body, too. My sister has to wear a disposable brief to bed because when she wakes up she cannot stop the urine flowing after she stands. I still have control and yet a couple of times I have sneezed or coughed and could not stop the urine that let go. I know TMI, but it is the truth about aging. It is the reason that I decided not to get the marble floor I loved in the bathroom. That, and dogs. Old dogs who sometimes pee on bath rugs. Urine will etch marble and will stain and sink in over time. One professional who used to post on this forum called marble "hard sponges." Life is too unpredictable to have a fussy floor covering.

I have marble floors but recognize that I need to maintain them in a certain way which is fine and I have had no problems with them or the marble counter in my bathroom either.

Normally a powder room is where one can use more delicate materials but in your scenario you know that those using it will manage to urinate on the floor. Since that isn't changing, marble would not be a suitable material and porcelain tile of some kind is what is needed.

You can have fun with the walls and other treatments presumably unless they are really animals :-)

Nancy in Mich, I wanted to private message you, but you are not set up to receive private messages. So here goes, Kiegel exercises work wonderfully to improve the holding of urine in older adults. You can Goggle for detailed information on doing the exercises.

All else, urine will stain porcelain tiles, too. Our porcelain tile is top quality, but do have this problem. Clean it with dampening the area well, sprinkle on Barkeeper's Friend, spread around with a sponge and let stay for a bit of time, then rinse well. It works.
