As far as I am aware you can propagate anytime, I have heard some people say do it in spring and some people say do it in fall. If you have roses growing leaves I reckon you could try. My best cutting success last summer was a piece of Iceberg that the neighbor's dog snapped most of the way off running through the garden, it wilted for a day or two on the bush til I got it clipped off and just shoved it into a spare quart pot with some garden soil. It is growing beautifully. If you scroll down there are lots of threads with advice on how to get the cuttings to grow, it is heaps of fun and I hope it works well for you!

Thanks a bunch for your reply. I have spent sometime on Youtube and have a pretty good idea on getting something going. I have never propagated anything, so this will be fun to see the end results.

In a warm humid area with lots of rain and minimal/no frost, you might have good luck just sticking the cutting beneath the mother plant. If you do this, I might loosen the soil a bit to allow the roots to spread out easily. I have propagated with varying success all year long. I'm trying to nail winter propagation indoors with much less success, but am not giving up. Let us know how it goes. Joey, congrats on your Iceberg. How are you overwintering that?

Iceberg is on the laundry room windowsill with one Queenie and one mystery rose cutting that are green with growth buds but not going any further than that. I am hoping it is because they are growing roots first instead of pushing top growth because I cut them on October 3rd and they are still green. They get a few hours of sunshine in the morning and it stays somewhat chilly but not freezing there. Thanks to your suggestion of spraying them the mildew has cleared up and the leaves are growing out flat : )

. Some Summers. I saw you a question on my email but not here. Anyway rosique suggested just using a utility knife. The type where you can break off the blades so one can always get a sharp one. I've read that elsewhere also and I think that that is what Burlington recommends.

I am wondering if I could start a 2nd coral dawn climbing rose by cuttings?? The one lady that saw mine was enamored with it and we tried everywhere to get one but nobody had any for sale as they were out of stock on them. And it seems this year when I was all set to look for one pulled muscle in back shoulder and had to go for therapy on it. Soo therefore could not use shopping buggy to go on bus to bring one home. Get over that and tripped and fell on left leg on sidewalk coming back from our drugstore. Went and got checked out on Monday after making appointment to see doctor. Showed her leg and we both agreed I should get it x rayed so did so in same building. Was happy to hear she saw no fractures and gave me this special ice pack to put around leg to take down the swelling and relieve the pain. I am just almost back to normal with it. Then the fellah that goes for coffee with us every morning tested positive for covid19 even though he had his 2 or 3 shots. So it meant the remaining 5 of us and our cleaning lady whom drops in to say hi had to isolate for 7 days in apartment units. On 7th day did a test on the kit where one can do so at home and it came back negative. Was showing no signs of having it either. I am also triple vaccinated. But still wear mask and there still has been no coffee being held in board room. Going on almost 3 weeks. Making my own in coffee pot in apartment. Sooo looks like I will be having to pass it up for this year in looking for one and try next yea if I can't do so. Thanks a lot.

Depends where you are and how cold you get.
