Are you growing this as a houseplant? Do you think the soil that it's potted in now, holds moisture long enough? What conditions do they prefer in the wild? A humidity issue? It's very nice looking. Do you ever add mycorrhizae to any of your houseplant mixes? We are going to have sub zero temperatures and nothing is popping up yet, but the creeping Charley has flower buds. Would the austral gem survive outdoors there in Arkansas? I went through a fern phase eons ago. I had some nice ones, but in time they all died, except for ostrich and Japanese painted. The fern I long for the most is Adiantum pendatum. I think they were on my native plant order last year, but when I drove to the nursery, they were out of them. If I do get a few maidenhairs, they will have to be occasionally hand watered, as are the other 2 fern species. I have absolutely no areas that remain moist all the time. Have you peeked at the roots of the fern to see if they look healthy?
