Thanks RoominessTV. I was thinking barn door as an option. But I was also thinking something similar to curtain/drapery with some fabrics/dressings on top. Ideally I would like to avoid doors of any kind but flexible. Any more thoughts ?

What exactly are you asking?

I really don’t like barn doors in small confined space.

Could you do a bi-fold door of some sort? This way it can stay folded open most of the time and won’t take up too much space.

Thanks eld6161. This is a full bath at hallway. But there is already a door between sink(in the pictures here) and the standing shower/toilet(further inside, not in the pictures here.) The space inside is very small for both the sink and shower/toilet so I don't want to have another swing/hinge type of door at hallway which is used to be the case. The hallway is 36" wide so bifold can work but I kind of lean towards sliding as bifold sticks out to hallway a bit leaving less space to pass thru, particularly when someone at sink tries to get out while another person tries to pass thru the hallway at the same time. I am ok with barn doors but the doors themselves are a bit too heavyweight and shoji seems a better lighter-weight option. But I like non-translucent better and prefer no grids. I see something like louvered panel doors but I can't find one piece door as I can only find bifold version of that which is two doors hinged together. I am also trying to find where to buy shoji without the translucent grids.

Thanks Jean. That seems a good option but I kind of prefer non-translucent type. Even with the one you posted, can that be paired with barn door hardware for install ? In other words, can barn door hardware work with any one piece door perhaps with some small modifications to the door and/or barn door hardware ? If so, then I don't have limit myself to strict barn doors and can just buy a one piece door I like and make it work with barn door hardware. I also wonder if there are other types of sliding systems other than barn door style like shoji mentioned by eld6161.

Yes barn door hardware can work with almost any type of door panel. I'm sure there are exceptions. As for other sliding systems, I don't have any direct experience. You might talk with a local carpenter or cabinet maker to see what they've used.
