Unconventional small bathroom layout

My small 1/2 bath has the toilet and vanity on opposite walls😬 How do I decorate this space?

What’s unconventional about that? And what does it look like? What “decorating” are you wanting to do?

That's not uncommon in half baths. Typically the sink and toilet are on the short walls and the door is in the center of the long wall - if so, the only places to decorate are in the center of the other long wall (opposite the door) and above the toilet (in my house, that space has a cabinet), unless you are ready to paint or change the walls, replace the vanity, or change the floor.

I don't know why it won't let me upload pictures. The vanity is on the right when you come in on the long wall and the toilet is on the back short wall. Everything is new but it needs decor. Do I decorate just above the toilet or do I decorate that back small wall as one? ie a Large picture?

Try including no more than 2 photos in a posting. Houzz seems to "choke" for me if I include more than 2.

Art work on empty walls. It is a surprise to open the bathroom door and find interesting art work.

I did not take pictures of ours, but here is the art work we used something like this...

Put towel rack a little lower and hang art above.

Really need a pic in a case like this...

You need some large pieces of artwork on that wall behind the toilet. Look for something with white mattes or art with lighter colors to brighten up the gray. Add some personality. The vanity just needs a large mirror over it. Another option is wallpaper in the whole room.

Back up to the door and try to get the whole room in the pic..looks like you need storage for toilet tissue...maybe a big basket?..also some towel racks?...with narrow shelves above ..for decorative bathroom soaps..rolled face cloths....once we see the whole room we can offer more advice on what/where (for balance)to add to the room..

You have white toilet...beige countertop....what color are floor and sink cabinet?...you will need to choose the art to unite all the color conflict existing in the room ..even perhaps consider a different wall color?

A lot of these supplies will not be in this room after my laundry room is done. This is a tiny hall bath and the door to it is always open. We thought about doing white plank on that back wall to make the room look bigger but I do not like rustic Maybe 1/2 wall vertical plank like the door?

You don't need any planks on the walls. Just art and a better wall color. You've got brown, black, and tan which doesn't work with the gray walls.

The paint and everything is brand new. I need to decorate to pull the colors together.

The paint and everything may be brand new, but on my monitor, the paint really does not relate to the sink. I am not sure decorating will pull it all together.

However, you may be able to find an art piece large enough to cover most of the wall.

I agree. The paint is the wrong color for the room. The only fix is to repaint with a color that better relates to the vanity, or use large pieces of colorful art to distract from it.

Where do you suggest hanging the art? Painting is not an option

A large piece behind the toilet and a small skinny piece beside the sink? Not really sure because I don't know what the whole room looks like.

What about a gallery wall of interesting art (variety) on the toilet wall and wrapped to next to the mirror. Would cover a lot of the wall (I agree the paint color isn't super cohesive with the counter/vanity) and be interesting to view if door is often open

A nice mirror would be great for a 1/2 bathroom. If some room maybe small shelves for additional storage.

Make the wall behind the toilet the focal point since you see that first when entering the room. You can use large artwork or a collection of smaller art. Don't add shelves.
