No Roses, No Chocolates

No roses, and no Chocolates for Valentines Day.


Valentines Day dinner, pan fried shrimps and largemouth bass fillet.

Largemouth bass is monogamous, so are a few shrimps. What Happy Valentines Day is all about.

    Oh, right - only one plate visible.

    No roses (and only one little chocolate macaroon bud) for me yesterday.

    I spent my evening driving down a snowy, cold road asking some rural neighbours if they would be my Valentine.

    Signified by a heart, its symbol ... while I asked for some support for heart research, February being heart month, as a volunteer canvasser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

    I have some incentive, for a blood clot hitting one's brain, a stroke, often causes (usually long-term/lifelong) disability or death; same story when a clot hits one's heart.

    Following some MRI-directed shots to shrink some varicose veins and subsequent pain when I took a substantial breath, I was diagnosed with blood clots in the lungs ... and put on Warfarin, several years ago.

    I have felt very minimal reduction in my capabilities to live my life as I choose - so very thankful that my clots hit lungs rather than heart or head.

    And figure that thankful spirit should issue in some support for those who were/are not so fortunate.

    When I spoke of the (rat poison) Warfarin here on the KT some years ago, one lady came on to say that her (Dad?) had been on Warfarin for about 15 years ... and had thus far shown no sign of growing a tail!

    Had I chosen to visit my neighbours in earlier days of February ... less snow, less cold. My landlord has not needed to bring his snowplough to clear my 500 foot or so lane even once, prior to mid-Feb., this year - *very* unusual!
