They will rot in water....and quickly. If you can't plant them in the ground then at least plant in a container with potting soil until you can do so.

Zone 7 ground soil usually does not freeze to any appreciable degree. Are you sure you can't dig a hole for these?

Could you put them outside up against the foundation of your house? Cover the bulbs with straw, or mulch, leaving the green leaves out. Then plant as soon as possible.

Ok. Will do. I think i can still dig a hole with force. the soil was solid when I tried earlier today even with the air temperature being in the 40s.

Regarding the identity of your bulbs I see nothing there which even vaguely resembles a snowdrop. And I'm a bit skeptical that they're daffodils. Were they dug from the ground? Could they be snowflakes?

The left three are daffodils. The right two may be snowflakes. I dont have any experience with snowdrops or snowflakes - so i may be mixing up what she told me.
