This is the time of year that I start to look up the bulbs I planted last fall to refresh my memory. I always plant many bulbs for cut flowers at market and don't really think about buying more until I get feedback from customers. Some bulb catalogs show up in April and May because it is still fresh in the minds of those that planted bulbs the year before. Good marketing on their part! I take lots of pictures and take a few notes every year but won't think about ordering more until later this summer!

Edited to add that the Red Winged Blackbirds are officially back - I have a feeling that it will be a warm dry summer. Do you have any weather predictions for this season dbarron?

Wet..wet wet. Because it pretty much always is in recent years.

A friend in SW Oklahoma said that she was going to make boats for her plants (because it was the only way she was going to be able to plant anything) and watch them float off the property and down to the Red River. That's what I feel like...my major challenge is the winter/spring drowning.

I have best luck with minor bulbs from speciality vendors, whose stock is quite limited...plus I like early order discounts.

Early discounts are always nice. And unusual varieties do sell out quickly. Here in North East Ohio our winter has been very mild, little snow in an area that is usually cold and snowy until the end of March.
