Kitchen design?

I am designing my large open concept kitchen and need advice. I'm trying to center the cook top in the center of the wall since I will have cathedral ceilings and having the hood anywhere other than center would likely throw off the look. I like symmetry but don't want to sacrifice function. Any placement ideas for appliances will be super useful. Also, in the sketch of the plans, where the fridge is currently located, I'll do an opening to the hallway and just shift the fridge and cabinets down the wall.

For best function, I would center the range on the cabinet run, and move the fridge down so that it opens into the long aisle, for more step-back room. Move the DW to the other side of the sink so that clean-up is not in the middle of the prep/cooking path. Instead of two island with a narrow aisle between, just have one deep island:

If it's important to keep the hood centered with the peak of the ceiling, maybe make the island longer and off-set the sink:

    Here's another idea...

Glo, I think that is an excellent idea, but I'd prefer that the ovens have some adjacent landing space. If they're switched with the fridge, but opening into the long aisle, that would be better. OP, I see a closet(?) at the top left, so if you include a side loading cabinet beside the fridge, maybe it could be used as an extension of that storage, and it gives you the opportunity to make the cabinets on each side of the hood symmetric. ETA, I forgot to mention the deeper counters--since you'll have plenty of floor space if you use only one island, you can pull the cabinets out to the same depth as the fridge box, for a few inches of extra counter space.

    Discussions--deeper counters

I would just do a single island and make it bigger, move the sink over to the end so it's not straight across from the stove. Add the doorway where the fridge is. Make sure you have at least 48" of walkway in all aisles. You could also put a microwave drawer in the lower area next to the fridge or in the island.

I'm thinking that might be an invitation for everyone to cut through the work aisle, as the OP preps over the DW. But I like the single island.

OP, as Patricia C. mentioned, posting the whole house layout will give us a better idea of traffic patterns.

Thanks for all of your input. I've attached a picture of more of the house, which will be pretty sizeable. The hallway above the kitchen to the left leads outside to a covered deck and the hallway below the kitchen will lead to bedrooms and a garage. I thought the opening to the kitchen would be handy for groceries. I've already asked the architect to extend the depth on the first island to 3 ft.
