Climbing America is a beautiful and scented rose ! When you say full rose is that what you mean ? I also love cl pearly gates . Either would be so nice with a lovely purple clematis!

I'm not sure if it would work in your zone, but Sombreuil is super petal-packed and fragrant. The white blooms would look great against brick.

My vote is for Quick Silver. Rock solid winter hardy over two winters so far for me. NO BLACK SPOT! Stunning large, lavender, mildly fragrant flowers in abundance and repeats ex. well. Study it up. Look it up at, 'Help Me Find Roses.' It can be ordered online. Chamblee's has a good price on it.

But, it needs at least 6 combined hrs. of direct sunlight to thrive. Will it get that on your west wall?

Zephirine Drouhin, extremely fragrant and floriferous, provided you get enough water throughout the season, otherwise i'd avoid...

How big is the wall? Look into Awakening -- it is a more-double sport of New Dawn, which is notoriously tough. Also, alas, notoriously thorny. If you don't mind thorns, it would be one to consider.

I think with the orange wall, I would have to stay in the warm colour tones of orange, yellow, red, apricot, maybe light pink. and add a deep purple/blue clematis to the mix. The wall is roughly 30 to 40 feet long with windows to break it up. I could probably do 4-5 Roses and some clematis.

I was thinking of mixing them up. Or should I stay with 1 kind?

Where in zone6 are you? Soft pinks and deep purples pinks can look great with orange brick... take a look at the walls at Mottisfont Abbey! Any chance you can post a picture? Take a look at Mme. Alfred Carriere. I grow many climbers, but most are recently planted so I'd hate to steer you wrong regarding BS or winter die-back. I'm currently in love with Autumn Sunset, but don't grow it yet. From what I've grown for multiple winters, I'd suggest, Awakening, New Dawn and Viking Queen. Gold Blush is also super bloomy and vigorous. Unfortunately, all of these are thorny with the exception of MAC and only Awakening and VQ have super packed petals. However, it's nice to mix them up, IMO. P.S. That's a nice brick colour that should look good with almost any colour rose.

I love LOVE your brick color. All the roses that have been proposed here have been great selections. I would like to recommend Teasing Georgia. There are two current threads right now where you can see how beautiful this rose is and it is very black spot resistant if that is an issue in your area. I also love the idea of Quick Silver. Actually maybe both lavender and yellow would look great together. MAC is also super beautiful and thornless.

Oh that's another good one Dianela! I would also suggest Ghislaine de Feligonde. It won't bloom as much continually, but when it does watch out! It's so lovely and delicate and no thorns!. Dianela has a gorgeous garden so with BS pressure so I always look to her for successes. There is someone who posts from time to time that used to live in your area I think. If you like pale pink, have a look at Madame Ernest Calvat. If you like raspberry pink look at Madame Isaac Pereire. They would be a very fragrant addition, if you decide to do a series of climbing roses against that wall. Of course if you train climbers against the wall you could also grow shrub roses in front of them. ;)

Westerland, a dark apricot, would look beautiful on that wall. It has strong canes. I am in Texas so couldnt comment on what would be hardy in your area. Check out the Canadian roses like William Baffin, John Cabot - cant recall the rest but there are a bunch for cold climates. Griffith Buck roses were bred for cold winters. Roses Unlimited is a good source for those and many others. Brad Jalbert breeds roses in Canada - might check out his website and see what he offers. Hortico Roses in Canada has a big selection of roses, perhaps they could advise you - check out their website. You have a lovely space that would be wonderful for a bunch of roses! Climbers, then shrub, hybrid teas, floribundas, old garden roses in front of those. Lots of potential!

I would look at climbers rated for zone5. I’m betting most years you might have z6 winters, but you probably also experience the crummy polar vortex years too. There are some beautiful suggestions here but some may be ambitious for a “real” climber. Poke around on the forum here, there’s a bunch of posts about cold hardy climbers.

Dingo brought up a good point. A rose that will make a good climber in my zone 7b may just be a 5 feet tall in zone 5, depending on the area and the hardiness. I just checked LoS and Teasing Georgia and the Austin site says they are hardy to zones 4 for LoS and 5 for TG. Of course having someone who grows a certain rose in a similar zone would be ideal before choosing it. I would take Mose’s zone 5 claim on Quicksilver as a great indication that it could do well in your zone. Also the reports from others here on the cooler zones will be more relevant than from us who garden in warmer areas.

Zone ratings are for areas the rose stands a chance of surviving. It has little to do with whether or not enough cane will survive for the rose to climb. So to get a zone 5 climber, you are usually looking at roses rated to zone 3.

Quadra is a good one, as are many of the Explorers. Against that wall, I'd be tempted to go for Baltimore Belle.

Dianela LoS and TG die back to the ground here every year. Yes they are hardy but will never be climbers here. Zone matters 😜

I just wanted to mention that all the rose is as I commented on do climb for me in my zone 6. We get a lot of rain. I specifically try to Zone up when choosing my climbers. Another that has survived - 7 Fahrenheit with long cane is climbing clothilde Soupert, although this Rose will ball for some people depending.
