Pattern Power?

I think Chevrons will be dated soon. Just my personal opinion. Everything will date eventually ... and then, make a stunning comeback, 20 years later or so! Or, until just after I've donated "it" to goodwill.

I love all the graphic patterns that are popular right now as well. And they are definitely "trendy" ... you'll surely see those patterns again in the future, but not executed in the same way.

Wallpaper is too big a commitment for me for a "trend" (I detest removing wallpaper). But they make large scale graphic wall stencils now so you can get the look for the cost of a can of paint and a weekend of work ... and when the trend is over, get out the roller and paint over it.

Honeycomb and herringbone are classics when used for floors (herringbone) and tiles (both). In large scale patterned rugs, etc. I could see it more coming and going. Like mentioned above if you like pattern, I wouldn't do it on an expensive piece that you are looking to last forever unless you're talking about an oriental/Persian/kilim, etc rug (which I personally like mixed with geometric print accents). Etsy is a great place for inexpensive pillow covers you can use on what you already have. And places like Target have all the trendy prints if you want curtains or pillows that may not last forever. Home Goods/Marshalls are good for fun upholstered accent furniture.

lkp2011 -- what did you decide to do?

I ordered two pillow covers to add some geometry for now, and will wait and see next year when I'm decorating my new home!
