Begonia question

I bought this begonia as a tiny little plant almost three years ago at Selby Gardens. I hung it under a tree in front of my house in dappled shade. It never bloomed but leafed out profusely. The tree became diseased and so we had to remove it. The begonia got hung on the eastern side of the house in morning sun and I totally forgot about it. Until today, when I noticed, it's finally blooming. It no longer has a profuse amount of leaves (and the leaves are currently in winter mode) but there are flowers! Yay! Can anyone identify the kind of begonia this is and do you think it's okay to leave it in this hanging basket or does it want to be in the ground?
