I don't have a huge walk in shower, and I have a cast iron shower pan. I had limited space . yours looks like a wheel in shower, so handy. Anyway, I wipe down my shower walls after the shower. If there are several shower takers, it is the last shower taker that gets the privilege. Because I have a shower pan, this gets cleaned every couple of months, because it is usually only me taking showers, and I don't go bare foot to get the shower pan dirty. I use 20x40" micro fiber towels that I got off of an auto detail website that have fabulous towels. they dry quickly after the wipe down. I hang it to dry and change it out after a few uses. The walls never need "cleaning" when I manage the shower in this fashion. All the chrome gets wiped down too. I don't use cleaners. Yours might take a few seconds longer than mine, because yours is deeper. Mine take 70 seconds to wipe down the 3x5' shower, double glass doors, and chrome fixtures. I pay particular attention to the corners and change of planes, so that the caulking gets dry. I never have any pink or orange growth show up.

How to manage the tile floor, I have know idea. maybe use another micro towel to dry that down after the shower too.

Thanks, my husband passed away January 31st this year at age 95. I am downsizing to a smaller home and have a younger sister who has several health issues; she is in and out of the hospital quite often so the shower is a blessing. In my current resident, my husband and I recently converted from tub to shower, which I wipe down (including chrome) after every shower. I have never had tile in my bathroom so I plan on doing lots of Googling for tips on how to maintain. There is a second full bathroom in the new home with a tub. When budget permits I will be converting that to a shower and will only use the walk-in shower for when my sister visits.

Get a shower pan for the new shower if you can. Mine is a cast iron Kohler with a 2" lip about. I love the ease of cleaning the pan. They make solid surface type pans too that are a breeze to keep clean. I think a solid surface wall would be easier to clean than tile. I have 2 glass doors on my shower that open like French doors. my room is narrow at 8' but I believe I could maneuver a shower chair in and out of the set up, or a walker to use to step over the low threshold.

Do you have any help with housecleaning? I'm considering help with floors and bathrooms, dusting for the first time. We haven't downsized and I'm doing hard surfaced floors one day, carpeted the next instead of all in one day lately!

No marble or special stone in my baths, they are tile. I clean the walk in shower in bare feet, bucket with a little soap in water and soft bristled, long handled brush. Then I rinse with hot water with the hand held spray attachment. I don't wipe it down other than fixtures but do turn on the fan while cleaning it.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and hope you'll be very comfortable in your smaller residence. I helped my mother downsize 5 years ago and it was a lot of work, so many decisions. She found moving from a 3 bed two bath home with gardens to a one bedroom apartment with housekeeping and meals available downstairs if wanted very freeing - was quite happy with that change.
