I dealt with this last month -- it’s powdery mildew. I used a light misting of Lysol sprayed at a distance of 18 inches away. It did the trick for me. I sprayed the plants nearby my affected ones, too, just in case since it easily spreads.

Mildew shows up when there's too much humidity sitting in the air. Generating air-flow near your plants (via a fan) will often help.

However, a few AV's are extra-susceptible to mildew. In my growing of a few hundred different varieties, only a half-dozen or so have proven to be prone to mildew.

Irina would say (and she probably will), either change the conditions or chunk it, if it's a recurrent mildewer. Life's too short and there's lots of other violets that don't do that.

I on the other hand, probably err in try to change the conditions...I hate to throw one away.

I have had powdery mildew problems on and off forever. It improved once I started using room air circulator fans 24/7 in my sunroom. It still appears occasionally and I have had great success using a fungicide recommended by Irina - Topas - which I purchased on EBAY. I purchased a tiny amount - you only use 1/8 teaspoon per quart of water and It was very inexpensive, even given that it came from overseas. I don't remove the affected flowers or leaves and it works great.

One pouch of Topas is for a gallon of water I think....and it is nor resealable...you can try though to keep the pouch clipped.. and in a closed jar... till the next time.But I doubt it will hold for 6 months. Anyway - if you treat them every 6 months - you are more or less PM free.

Mine came in a small jar, not a pouch.

I had it in pouches and in glass vials - like for injections... Would be happy to get one in a bottle so I can use a bit and plug it back. Good stuff!
