Thank you for taking the time to explain.I am making a new bed , so should I dig up the soil then add compost to it and mix it or add a conditioner to old soil ???

Depends on your existing soil conditions... but for simplicity- if your current soil is workable/tillable without being 'mucky' or obviously poor, you should be OK. Just add some organic material (compost) and work it in with the existing ground. What we did in the photo here is a bit extreme and it was only to conserve already REALLY good soil. (plus, we were building up the grade a lot)

Thanks for the compliments... I can't speak regarding the specifics of your project for obvious reasons, so I'm sorry about that. I don't know what the grade should be, but I can say that we do always build "up" a bit so that plants don't sit on a level or low bed. 900.00 may be a fair price depending on soil amount/hauling/prep work/edging/etc....
