Picture, more info, complete botanical name please.

They do seem to go up and down. Wrinkly sounds like it is too dry (hopefully not rot from too much watering). Mine seem to be waking up from limping through winter.

I don't take pictures of it often so this was two years ago in mid-February.

It was literally growing outside the pot in August 2017

So I started a new pot from some babies and I think they just crowd each other too much.

HC Mcdole, are we sure that's what the OP is talking about? I think it's likely..but I am not sure.

I can't say I've grown this species for 30 or 40 years, but I remember them being of easiest culture, avg moisture, good light, etc.

dbarron, no I don't know exactly what the OP is talking about but I waded in nevertheless. HAHA! Seeing how Ledebouria socialis is the most widely sold of the genus, I made a leap of faith. Regardless, it's all good. I bought a hanging pot of it (same pot in the first two photos above) 14 years ago when HD was playing around with their landscape center in a few select cities (Atlanta being one since that is their home town) for a low price - maybe $5(?) - what a steal or deal that was. Coming from a commercial grower it was in great shape. I should repot it one of these years.

This specific species are, as Al pointed out, quite xeric, or can be. They're fill a pot / space quickly. They're a nice plant in and of itself, and a good beginner succulent. They do have lots more interesting species in the genus, and, I'd guess, some more yet to be discovered.
