Staking Narcissus Leaves

Been thinking about the next steps..... Front drive entrance on both sides are flanked by a pretty dense bed of Daffodils. Due to ongoing stuff, I decided to shoehorn and plant my annuals in them (normally I am planing putting in 5" annual pots much later in the season when I'm removing the leaves).

I thought about just tying them off but even before they start to yellow out, the leaves do lose their vigor and do stand down. SAID annuals would them be super wet between the usual spring rains/cloudy days/ wet mass of leaves ontop of them.

Like duh. Got plenty of round plant stakes around. Going to give this a shot and on the day I end up deadheading them, I will just be -staking- up the leaves where they are currently surround the annual plant I planted already.

Life's too short to stake Narcissus leaves imo. And I think it will look very unpleasant too. Plus you'll have to remove the sticks again soon. Btw tying the foliage is not good for them. Is it warm enough yet to plant out annuals where you are?

It might add a extra 10 minutes tops when I deadhead to just put stakes down, and guide the leaves into the loop. Only leaf staking the ones where I have annuals planted (really dense) to minimize the leafs on flop, allow more light/air by a slight redirection/containment with the stake. Yes, well aware of braiding, etc. Just the above plan since I have the annuals already planted.

Temps are not ideal . I'm well aware that it should be planted later. I know the underlying risks when I planted them yesterday. With what's going around globally, I'm not really in the spirits this year to be outdoors as much. Especially with a few unknowns like airborne stuff from a landscaper cutting grass and downwinds, etc. I have 54 plugs that I would have repotted into 5", nursed them until foliage dieback and would have planted them then. They all went into the ground yesterday.

Really?? Most are finding the time to be outdoors and in the garden very soothing and a great diversion from the fearful news. I am out in my garden as often as my time and the weather allows!! And the chances of contracting the virus from being outdoors is pretty darned remote, provided you and the landscaper follow social distancing and not engage in any close contact.

A bit over over protective, but I had my goggles and masks on when I was doing the annual plantings !

Paranoia, Common Sense or Crazy Town. I think I've reached all 3 .

I'm still working, albeit just confined to my abodes. Maybe in a month or 2, my perspective will change, as I get time to read up more of the ifs/buts/science that comes up on awareness and safety and all that, but right now, even the creature comforts of the warm sun on my face while my hands are in dirt don't seem appealing.
