There's some great options out there; just stay away from the basic builder ones. They looks a bit too basic. When things return to normal, check your local tile shops and bring samples home to compare. select a matching grout.

4x4 square tiles were used for decades/went out of style in the 1990s. The grout usually matched the tile color. Nice update to use contrasting grout color. Might also want to check out textured or matte versions.

Subway tiles are classic. That said, I like your idea of using the squares and agree to getting ones that are upscale.

Thanks everyone! Any suggestions as to who sells high end square tile like what I’m looking for? I definitely don’t want it to look like the basic builder tile at Home Depot, but am having a heck of a time finding better quality online. It would be great to order some samples now and possibly get started since we’re home indefinitely with only so much to do :)

wayfair or Lowes has Bedrosian Cloe tiles that are a 5x5. they look pretty nice.

I love the mix of square and subway together. Its interesting but classic at the same time. I love using it in showers where you have a large expanse but it can be used as back splash if laid out correctly,

We did Winchester Tile and love them. I think the size is 5 1/8. They have a variety of whites.

. What I found is that Zellige is very expensive, Bedrosian tile Cloe is moderate, and Amagansett tile at Home Depot is affordable but still looks nice. I have samples coming of Zelliage and Cloe but I'll probably pull the trigger on Cloe. Here is my inspiration pic for my square tile choice.

Does anyone want to hazard a guess on the paint color of cabinets? I'm looking for a mushroomy/putty color for my cabinets. Any help would be most appreciated.

As far as the cabinet color goes, I cannot for the life of me remember the color name! :( BUT I do know that it’s a finish by Omega Cabinetry because that’s who did our cabinets! @oreolucca1 That is beautiful! I like your hood too and that you went all the way to the top with your tile. I'm not sure if I will do a wood hood or stainless steel. I chose Silestone Charcoal for my countertops, looks like soapstone with soft veining. But dang, I really like Zellige white tile which is what I think that is in my inspiration pic above. I don't have that much to tile but by my calculations I need at least 206 square and if I did Zellige it would cost almost as much as 2 appliances.

Yes I liked zellige as well. Could not justify cost. And was worried when my tile guy thought they were harder to work with. Off the sample I got. I love

my hood and was not expensive but I cook a lot (really a lot now) and needed something very strong. Good luck to you. I am sure it will be beautiful. I did my kitchen on a budget.

I purchased HD's Amagansett 4 x 4 for my backsplash. I saw the tile in two tile stores in my area under the Spanish name, which is Equipe Ceramicas, and a higher price. It's the same tile, made in Spain. It's also the same tile as the Montauk from TileBar. With the pandemic, I had to wait almost three months, but it was finally installed yesterday. Tile installer will be back in a few days to grout and I'll post a photo.
