Bare root roses

I received 3 bare root roses couple days back and planted them in ground the day after they got to me. I did not soak them in water and I have kept the bud union about 1.5 - 2 inches above the ground. When they arrived, they were wrapped in heavy plastic and looked well moistened. I wanted to get them in ground soon as we were expecting rains and I did not want to wait till the rain got over. My question is, should I take them out of the ground and soak them before putting them in ground again? Should the bud union be buried here in Northern California? I do not want these plants to die.

Munstead wood has put on flowers! I am so excited. It smells heavenly. Thank you all for your advice. Waiting for others to bloom.

DO NOT DIG THEM UP ..

they are stressed from digging.. cooling all winter.. shipping and planting ... do not stress them more ...

good job on what sounds like proper planting ... now just keep them properly watered.. and in a few weeks you see see the result ...

they are VERY stressed.. not hungry.. fert is not a response at this time

btw: did it rain???.. a good soaking? .. and were they dormant.. or leafed out when you got them ... how about a pic or 2???

No, you don't need to dig them up and the planting level sounds fine. Roses do not need to be planted deeply in mild zones. As noted by ken, just a good deep watering now is adequate and then as often as necessary thereafter depending on your weather conditions.

I am in zone 10. It did rain a little, scattered showers, not as much as expected. The leafs are just starting to emerge. Attaching pics here.

I planted Munstead wood, Princess Alexandra of Kent, and Benjamin Britten.

They look good. Just remove the tags so they don't constrict the branches.
