IMO rugs in bedrooms are always lost under the bed I prefer just runner sor nice fluffy rugs on either side if you need them at all. IMO your oom is too small for an area rug , to get the right size you woukd need to cover too much floor.

Thank you, Patricia. I hope to get a very small, neutral remnant in a soft plush, and then have it cut and bound into 2 runners for beside the bed. I just want something to eliminate stepping out of bed onto cold hardwood floors. Seeing all those pics of rugs halfway under beds made me question my instincts.

you can do whatever you want. I have a huge rug that sticks out the foot and either side of the bed. this is so it's warm and soft when walking to my side of the bed. a side benefit is that it adds one more layer of heat and sound insulation.

I never liked small rugs next to a bed because they tend to creep around. even the ones with grippy backing.
