I just ordered three small bulbs from Eden's Blooms. I had ordered one from them last year. It sulked for a VERY long time before putting leaves out. I think it is the mushy, sad bulb I discovered outside yesterday with very bad red blotch. The red blotch extended down the neck and into the center of the bulb. I can't be sure that was my reticulatum because when I was on vacation last year, my mother and a teen boy did a lot of yard work at my home. The gesture was sweet... but they repotted many of my amaryllis bulbs into very wet seedling mix, pulled the tags from my named plants (and put random tags in with the wrong plants) and dumped many, many pots of a variety bulbs into the compost. I still don't know what I lost in that fiasco.

I'm so sorry :-((( this is why I won't let any critter either the two or four legged kind any where near my plants!!! They may mean well but both are equally destructive!!!

I had simply asked my mother to water everything in pots while I was away for 3 weeks. When I returned, I found chaos! I appreciate that she was trying to make my yard look better. She wasn't aware that the kid she hired to help her had dumped pots and pots of bulbs. Apparently, they both thought those labels with names that were tucked into pots were unimportant too. I'm super bummed that I don't seem to have any corms of my rare purple bessera elegans. My pot of lemongrass didn't get watered for the entire time we were away... thankfully it's a tough plant (and easy to replace)... and it's on the mend. It's still not the lush full pot that it had been. Alas, I'm discovering more red blotch on my amaryllis due to things being planted in seedling mix (some expensive stuff I bought prior to vacation) that holds a LOT of water.
