If you can dig up without damaging the bulb and with as little root disruption as possible, it is fine to move bulbs now. I do it often at this time of year, including planting potted growing bulbs :-)

If you DO move bulbs when they are actively growing they can either settle into their new homes with hardly missing a beat or it could send them into an early dormancy or flower buds could dry up this year. Either way, don't keep watering them after the initial first soaking after transplanting - they are bulbs and aren't going to die from drought! Even if they look a little wilty after transplanting don't keep them soaking wet for long periods of time! It is easier to revive a dry plant than it is to resurrect a rotten one. Usually bulbs get back into the rhythm of the season if you let mother nature take care of most the watering.

Thanks for the advice. Planted a few types of "species" Tulips last year and I moved some today to hopefully set them situated for future years.

I have tried digging and transplanting some of my grandmother's antique daffodils multiple times and have had zero luck. At this point I've assumed they have to be dug when dormant. I've moved and am in the process of moving some plants to my new house and am holding off on moving bulbs. I suppose I could try again!

I guess we can compare notes. I've been moving a bunch of bulbs these last few weeks as I redo a couple beds. Mostly tulips and daffodils, the daffodils are going to new spots while the tulips are being potted up until I figure out what to do with them next fall. It sounded like a good idea at the start when I couldn't bare to dig them under or rip them out, but every new part dug over and there are a few more pots standing around...
