Calamondin question

I purchased one recently and while repotting it, I could find no graftline, just 3 trunks, coming out of the root ball. Curious as I didn’t think calamondins could grow well on their own roots. It was in a 1/2g pot, fully root bound, but since easter, has grown 12-14 inches. incredibly healthy. It’s also covered in fruit.

could it be on its own roots? And can the 3 trunks be separated for 3 trees, or would I cause more stress trying to detangle the roots.? it’s driving me crazy because the center of the plant is empty.
