Will there be a window over the sink, and in the shower? Or am I reading it wrong?

At a minimum I would swap the sides, so the windows are in the toilet room and over the tub, rather than in the shower and at the sink.

@bpath - Yes, we were considering putting a "transom type" window over the vanity and another in the shower to let light in. I value natural light, my husband could take it or leave it. This is the one room in the house we couldn't figure out how we'd like it laid out. Our designer drew in this layout and we'd been trying to tweak it, but I think it may need to be changed (before we start building).

I would make the tub a focal point

Toilet rooms make no sense to me at all, if somwone came in to use the toilet while I am getting ready or having a bath they would never do it again. I love the Europen idea with an actual separate space outside the bathoom but no this. Turn the toliet and you could have linen it the sapce where you have the toilet now and have a really nice sized vanity in proportion to the size of the bathroom. A nice large window by the tub is IMO the best choice for lighting.

I think Mark and Patricia are in the minority, and most people prefer a toilet room (preferably one with a window) in their master bathroom. Now, if you have the space and money to do his and hers bathrooms for the master suite, then I could see not enclosing the toilet. Though most of the his and hers bathrooms I have seen, are very poorly designed!

I don’t normally go to my toilet to have a pleasant experience. A necessary one, yes. A private one, most certainly.

I'm in the group that hates toilet closets. I want privacy - that's why the bathroom has a door.

Can we please just agree to disagree on the use of "toilet rooms"? It's a matter of personal preference, there's no right or wrong answer. If someone wants one, fine, if not, fine again. As long as it is large enough for clearances, that's all that matters.
