    Congratulations!

When I move into a new home the first thing I do is take inventory of what has to stay.

Second step is figuring out the things I own that are going into the new home (either can't afford to replace or don't want to replace).

Third step is to pick the colors that make my heart sing that I work with what must stay/will stay.

(For me, there is an automatic assumption that I will be painting, so I don't consider current wall color).

After I know what colors I want to use I pick a neutral that works with my colors.

After I pick my neutral I pick the white that will work best with my neutral.

This provides me with a color palette to work with in each room. Main areas are usually neutral walls and colors brought in with upholstery, accents, art, area carpets . . .

Bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry are usually painted in a subdued version of one of my colors and the neutral brought in in flooring, upholstery, accents, art, area carpets. . .

I started buying MCM furniture back when it was just called modern. Knowing your style and picking appropriate pieces to mesh with your new home is much better suited to some of the other contributors. Showing pictures of some of the things you own and love can help them give you guidance.

I would start with stools for the island...choosing backless stools so they completely fit under the island and take less space when someone is sitting in them....choose lightweight ones for easy moving..and as comfortable as possible...and avoid legs that stick out too much...all of these functional aspects are almost more important than how they look...also keep in mind that the style will influence your other choices...once you have this choice made you can move on to considering how and what color you may want to ad to your all white kitchen

Is that adjoining area a dining area? I would take suggestions from the upholstery of the seating there and possibly a rug. Add coordinating placemats and then bring those colors into the kitchen via pottery, appliances, etc. good luck!
