It's not all that petty a complaint.

As local nurseries are run out of town by the national chains, you're bound to end up with national offerings, and those offerings are usually anything easy to mass produce that can flower in a saleable size and shippable height. A one size fits all kind of gardening.

Even most local nurseries only offer what sells and what they can ship in to sell, it's harder to find someone who only offers things they know will do well.

If you could dream up a perfect solution it might be to find someone who doesn't mind being poor and working endless hours, who you can convince to propagate and raise plants on their own, test them locally, and then offer them for sale in the sale yard which they also run since they can't afford to hire anyone and their spouse has better things to do. I guess they'll also have to learn to navigate and pay the patent and trademark world so that they can offer discontinued Terra Nova plants.

All this and they'll also have to sell a few tomatoes, because what kind of nursery doesn't sell tomatoes!

So there. I see your petty complaint and raise it by three ;)

I wonder if you could try collecting and raising a few seedlings? They might be close enough to please you, but I'm not sure how these hybrids are with setting viable seed.
