Bland is good . Get a French door fridge. You have storage needs met but lacking those base cab drawers , you may want to redo, but not essential now. No paint job as the option to look closer at things for long term is more important. Go for new hardware and light fixture.

After you have lived there a while think about how you are doing on storage. Your layout is pretty good. The cabinets look pretty. Painting is risky as painting over previously finished cabinets is not as durable as a factory finish. It is a fine way to give cabinets new life while you save for new cabinets, but after 5 years, there is usually need for many touch ups, especially if this is an active kitchen. Many newer styles are using warm wood cabinets, but often less uppers. If this was my space I would probably lose some of the upper cabinets - probably along the sink wall and replace the over the range microwave with a hood. I might replace the center panel on some of the doors with glass.

Live with it for a while, at least 6 months. Not certain if there is enough space between the top and bottom cabinets for a large appliance like a Kitchenaid mixer. You may find that you need to move the upper ones higher. You may also find that you would want to move some of the base cabinets around. This is much easier to discover this before you spend money on new countertops etc. The lack of electrical outlets would bother me more than the color of things. I would want one in that corner or perhaps one on each wall. More and more of the appliances I have been looking at are calling for dedicated outlets.

Live with it and save, save, save. Figure out what you like and don't regarding layout and storage. Then start planning at least 6 months down the line.

I agree. Live with it for a while. Maybe put glass in a few uppers and hardware change. Fridge too.

Looks bright and clean. New fridge, new ceiling light, new hardware if you want to make it your own. Add some color with a new runner and perhaps a simple window treatment (but not necessary)
