Desperately needs curb appeal!

Looking for ideas for our flip house to give it real curb appeal. The front steps are not finished and there will be a black rod iron railing which will be on both sides of steps and around the landing. Would, of course, paint the front door ( color?) but it really will need more ... but what? Looking for ideas that won’t break the bank because at this point money IS an issue. HELP!

I should have added that the snow finally left about 5 days ago. The lawn will be a nice green in a month!

Put together a plan - there are a few things that could be done inexpensively to your cute home:

    • Naturally, as you mentioned, finish the steps
    • Add large numbers for your address to be seen from the street
    • Add mailbox
    • Paint front door an accent color
    • Paint foundation a color that blends with the siding or a shade darker
    • Landscaping is the big one here - you need a whole plan. Check with the landscaping sub-forum here on houzz for the best way to landscape in your area.

You have many color choices for your front door with your neutral pallet. I happen to like bright and bold, but you could really go in almost any direction. Is your siding color a very light gray or white? You could go even with a dark door if that's your preference. Black would look sharp too.

For your flip house, choose a color from your landscaping for the front door or a complementary color like the scheme below. You don't have to go overboard with landscape, but it will bring a nice finish and curb appeal to your home.

^Go with plants/flowers in pots if you can't afford to do a landscape plan. Be generous with the overflowing flowers and have them tie into your front door color if possible.

"The front steps are not finished and there will be a black rod iron railing which will be on both sides of steps and around the landing."

Do you mean wrought iron railing?

Lindsey, since the OP said money is an issue, then he probably did mean rod iron railing and not wrought Iron railing.

Silly me. I've never heard of a "rod iron railing." I did a Google search, and all of the results were wrought iron railings...

lol...no such thing as "rod iron" railing (as you know Lindsey). wacokid has to be pulling our legs.

Denita, thanks so much for taking the time and sending great suggestions! Oh dear! Wrought iron railing / rod iron railing😱😩😂 Oops ... big mistake! Thank you Lindsey for the correct spelling. As a teacher I should have known that!!! Hmmmmm .... perhaps I should write it 100 times!😉

It's okay margobassarab - it's easy to type what we hear in our heads :)

I would love to see what you ultimately do to the house. Please post pics when you are ready!

"... it's easy to type what we hear in our heads."

Yes, it is. That's why we so often see should of instead of should have. Drives me nuts.
