What I like about Crabapples is the flowers in the spring and the red berry size fruit in the fall and winter. These are babies. I have a mature Sargent that is about twenty feet across.

I like the forest pansy. Had a question about the crabapple, I like the pink or purple flower ones but I live where there are deer here and there. Will this be an issue? Also, do they make a mess from the fruit falling? Which one has a fast rate of growth?

I've heard that deer like the bark of young trees. I've never had a problem with the deer. They love my Hostas, though.

I don't find it to the be a mess. Most of them are eaten by the birds and squirrels and the ones that do fall in the early spring are not noticeable on the mulch.
