Tractor seat plant leave dropped and drooping

Hi there!

I planted this tractor seat plant in my back garden about a month ago.

From what I read this is a hardy plant, and it was going relatively well from what I could gather, but in the last day or so the leaves have dropped toward the ground and become lax.

It was really rainy yesterday and its very cold and windy today so I don’t know if its in response to these things or if it was going to droop anyway?

The soil is average, possibly below average : I

Im tempted to take it out of the garden and pot it?!

Please help, Id love to bring this hunno back to life ASAP.

Have you been watering it? Rain may not be sufficient if it's relatively newly planted. It likes moist soil. Much easier to care for in the garden than a pot.

Oh yes sorry - yes it gets watered regularly (at the same time that I water the new grass I laid the other week).

HELP. I potted a newly acquired "giant tractor seat plant" two months ago. It looks healthy BUt. it has done nothing?? Moist soil but not wet. light shade( under patio cover. 4" pot. lost a couple of mature leaves. Looks like new buds but no growth. Any suggestions. Walter

Do you have any photos? My guess is that its still establishing itself? another reason its dormant is if youre in an area where its winter? It might need fertiliser? Im really sorry I dont know but these would be the things Id wonder. I hope it recovers, all the best.

In California. NO winter. Hot but not under cover. Transplanting to a larger container with garden soil. The mrs says "stop hovering." It's fine. I hope she's right.

A 4" pot is too small. These develop a hefty rhizomatous root system. I just repotted mine to a 5G. And if grown in a container, do not use garden soil. Use a good quality moisture retentive potting soil. Do not allow to dry out as that will halt any growth. I find they also benefit from regular fertilization. I use Foliage Pro (as I do with most other containerized plants).

but ... imo .... do not fert a newly transplanted plant ... give it a few weeks to settle in.. before you juice it ...

and keep the pot out of sun during the heat of the day for those few weeks .. give the plant a recovery period ...
