Hi guys, its been a while since I posted. I still lurk around sometimes but rarely post, sorry about that. So my ponderosa lemon has been i big bother since I got it 3 years ago. It used to be pretty large and healthy and I almost lost it because the nursery told me I could put it in normal cheap potting soil. I had to cut most of the branches because of the rot.

I have made so many errors with that tree that its really weird to me that its still kicking around lol.

second error was putting it in a 5-1-1 mix made with red cedar mulch, perlite and peat moss, no lime. The tree did not like it and was stagnant for the next year, no growth but never lost leaves.

After that came miracle grow cactus soil and a plastic pot with holes it in. You guessed it, ROOT ROT CAME BACK lol. I should've probably pruned the rotted roots correctly to give it a good chance, too bad I did not...

Last may I made what was probably the first good decision with that tree, I pretty much bare rooted it (not many roots left :( ), and the put it in good old all purpose pro mix with perlite in a 10in clay pot. It took the whole summer to recover the pot change but it finally pushed out new growth (the first in 2 years)! The root system also progressed even if a little.

In january my cat made the tree fall on the floor and it damaged the root system, I had to repot in a similar size clay pot and pro-mix vegetable mix (only thing available at the store and no perlite) to make it last the winter.

Right now its still hanging on but showing yet more sings of rot. The soil stays wet a very long time and the leaves have a weird pattern going on. the roots seem to anchor the tree very loosely. I kind've want to give it one last chance since I see what could be future buds all around the tree. Could it be a good idea to root prune the bad roots, put it in a one or 2 gallon fabric pot and bury it almost all the way down in my inlaws greenhouse and leave it be for the next few months. I want to do use equal parts pro-mix app purpose, perlite and orchids soil from promix as soil to make sure it has ample drainage.
