Does anyone recognize this plant?

This plant is sprouting in the middle of a clump of forget-me-nots and I don't remember planting anything there. The sprouts look kind of like a peony, but I've never seen black peony sprouts, and they're much smaller than any of the peonies I have in my garden. Any idea what it could be?
