Invincibelle wee wee smooth hydrangea PROBLEM

Let me start off by saying.. I am COMPLETELY new to this. In the past, I've just planted marigolds or a similar flower yearly in my mulch area every year.I moved into a new house and decided to put in a little more effort. I decided that I wanted whites, creams and pinks in my front yard. Since hydrangeas are my favorite flower, I decided on those.I ordered the flowers from homedepot. They approved cut down with a little leaves. I had high hopes! I planted them as instructed and watered them daily. Came outside this morning to water them and they look pitiful! All the leaves are gone. We have alot of rabbits running through the yard, which may be the issue. The weather just changed from hot to cold (Virginia). There has been alot of rainy days. Could any of these be the issue?

Rabbit decimation!! Nothing wrong with the plants themselves....they just taste too good! You will need to protect the young plants from the rabbits. Wire screening wrapped around the plants in a circle will help. Leave some space between the plants and the screening to allow for growth and make sure the base of the screening is firmly anchored in the soil.

Okay. That makes sense. Will they still have a chance? How often should i water? I've been watering everyday. I'll have to look into screening. I have some limelight hydrangeas. They seem to be fine. I'll include a picture. Should I screen those as well?

I would :-) have deer instead of rabbits but they are indiscriminate about the types of hydrangeas they munch on.......I assume rabbits have a similar broad diet.

You will need to water as often as necessary, Daily seems excessive to me unless in very warm temps or with very sandy, fast draining soil. I don't even water my containerized hydrangeas on a daily basis!

I put hardware cloth wire cages around some of my plants until they get established. Liquid Fence or similar spray works well if you keep up on it too. Some people put Irish Spring soap around their plants as well.

I'll look into all of that. Thank you both for the tips. I purchased some liquid fence. I'll keep up with spraying it. It's been raining alot, which has been an issue.
