Sure, see what the seller says. I doubt they'll fess up to it being a problem (and it probably isn't), but if it does go south from here, at least you said something early and they shouldn't blame you for your care of the plant.

Just for clarity, they are in dirt, but I’m trying to keep roots from drying out as I have been instructed to do. :-). They are in a north window which gets bright light, but no direct sun.

They don't need to be wet, just moist.

If you want to, pot it up in something like Miracle Grow and let it recover it for a couple months. That will give it a good start, and it will be easy to keep it watered.

Wait. You are keeping potted hostas inside like house plants, near a north window, and watering them, and expect them to be ok?

I overwinter my potted hostas in the garage every year. I don't water them at all while they are in the garage. They do fine.

I'd suggest putting your potted hostas outside. What's it like out there? What is the benefit of keeping them inside? They need much more sunlight if they are awake, once the leaves come up.

Liquidfeet, you misunderstood about the hostas. These are new hostas just received that are in plastic pots. I don’t have any potted hostas. We have had three nights of frost warning Since last Friday so I have not even considered planting them. In my opinion they shipped too soon for my region. In SE Wisconsin, I don’t even consider planting Here until end of May. It’s just too cold.
