I just purchased a new wool rug from overstock.com and the first rug I ended up returning due to a overpowering mildew smell. I recieved a replacement but after opening the package I did notice a mildew/warehouse smell again just not as strong as the other. I also noticed white on the bottom of the rug (see photos). My boyfriend doesn't think its mold but he also doesn't smell the mildew smell. I'm not sure if its just mixed wool threads. The rug is a huge wool rug 8x10 so I'm trying to see if it could be something else or if it's definately mold before having to return such a heavy rug. I also read on a few websites that wool can have a mildew smell when you first buy it but suggested putting it outside for a day.
