After almost killing my section of AV in (seeing suggestion to use) pure peat,

I remixed and added a good portion of perite and (honestly can't remember exactly what did) I think some of the old pot soil (sandy loam), what I was left with was a small sucker with 3 tiny leaves, almost white in color with barely a tiny root string on the bottom. I then relinquished care and watering to my DW and was surprised after a year to see that it not only survived but flourished.

So just thought I'd share (probably a year and a half since potting the small section from the overgrown original plant). :-)
