IKEA White Curtains

Does anyone know of an IKEA curtain that is a true white? I purchased the IKEA Ritva curtains. They are beautiful, but they are not true white.

They are beautiful! True white or not, they worked for me and blend with my true white trim.

They look great in your room! Unfortunately for me they are next to true white cabinets, and I don’t think the color works.

Nhb22 have you washed yours? Is so, did they lighten or shrink? Someone suggested washing them with bleach to lighten them, but I’m afraid to try.

I have white Ikea curtains (a different style) and they looked white in store. When up against my window frame they are not pure white. I think only their sheers may come whiter. Because your wall and blinds are creamy they do suit your room overall.

Don’t bleach - their website info below. FYI I have washed mine and they did not lighten, but did shrink a bit and had to be re-hemmed.

Thanks for the feedback, Maureen! It’s interesting what lightning can do, because my walls are actually a light grey - Sherwin Williams first star. I think if I could get the curtains to lighten even a little I’d be more happy with them. Someone on another forum recommended washing in Oxi White Revive. I might give that a try. I definitely don’t want them to shrink, but I guess $30 is all I’ve got to loose if I try it on one set. The length is just right now - skimming the top of the floor. If they shrink I fear they’ll be too short.

Maureen - did you tumble dry or line dry them?

I washed one panel as a test. I only tossed it in the dryer for a couple of minutes to see if the wrinkles would come out. The panel did shrink slightly, but when I ironed it, it grew a little. I was not looking to lighten the color, and it did not do so.

Your curtains do not look bad against the white cabinets and the blinds (I think they would look even better with the blinds open), but I feel that you need something with a pattern in that room instead of all the white and light colors around the room. My monitor shows a light shade of grey.

If you wish to continue using the "white" curtains, I would try testing one panel with the OXY whitening. Like you said...what have you got to lose!

I washed them in cold water, but can’t remember the dryer cycle. Do remember taking them out before fully dry. They shrunk about 2 inches.

    Thank you for the info!

Nhb22- I agree that the room is missing something. Maybe a patterned curtain would be better. Might be time to go back to the drawing board.

Thanks HU-980639249, it makes a HUGE different what "white" you need for drapery, ergo why the wealthy hire prof interior designers to make them via the designer workroom. These are ivory and many drapery has yellow undertones. Maybe I will buy this and use OxiClean and get in longer size for the 4% shrinkage and also for a 8" hem.
