It is most likely cold damage. There were freezing night time temps over a wide area. If new growth is unaffected then they will be fine.

Leave the leaves alone and let them do their thing. The plant needs their contribution, photosynthesis-wise. It looks like frost damage to me. Is that a Liberty?

Thanks so much! We did have two nights below freezing last week:( It didn't seem to bother my other varieties. I don't remember this specific variety...

Also, we gladly encourage you to buy more and more hostas for your garden as there are now thousands of varieties, with new ones coming every year. Don’t know how you found us...... did you enter through the hosta library page or through Houzz? The Hosta Library has lots of information and pictures. Besides the photos, there are “Rawson’s Lists” on the HL home page, middle column 2nd-3rd one down. The lists help with looking for different characteristics of hostas, such as green ones, blue ones, shiny leafed, size and many other’s. Also, there Is comparison component where you can compare two different varieties of hosta which sometimes helps with ID. Anyway have fun, get to know us and happy hosta-ing!

This is wonderful....excited to get started, so thank you for the helpful hints. Pretty much everything I plant needs to be a shade lover, so learning more about the different varieties available will be good information to savor!!!
