Raspberry Cream Twirl for Dianela

last modified: 6 years ago

Thanks to Dianela's pics of Raspberry Cream Twirl, I have this rose in my garden this year and I love it. Please feel free to share yours.

Raspberry Cream Twirl (MEIteratol/AM811/Colibri 2010/Colibri Farbfestival/Ines Sastre) climber rose bred by Alain Meilland (France, before 2010). The 4-inch deep pink, white stripes, cupped, quartered, reflexed, rounded blooms have up to 100 petals and mild apple fragrance. This climber rose is almost thornless, lasts well in a vase, and is very healthy in my garden. Its parents are: seed: Deborah (floribunda, Meilland, 1989), pollen: Sorbet Fruité Climber × Bonica '82. I only has this rose first season, and it already belongs to my perfect rose category. Helen

Thanks Hope. I'm so impressed with this rose, a pink striped rose that is very healthy, has nice fragrance and old English rose bloom form, lasts well in a vase, repeats well, is very healthy and almost thornless. WOW! I also read that it performs well in the heat. Helen

Helen, those are really great pluses...nearly thornless, heat tolerant, and gorgeous?? I haven't really considered stripe roses since I'm fairly new to the rose gardening world, but your pictures sure make me want to get one now!!

That is absolutely gorgeous, Helen. It looks and sounds like the perfect pink striped rose. So much better than my Julio Iglesias which was pretty the first year and a dud after that. I've always wanted to try another striped rose, and this would certainly be a contender, although I don't know where I'd put a climber.

Hope, I think you will like this rose in your garden.

Thanks Ingrid. Dianela has two Raspberry Cream Twirl over her arbor, and they look gorgeous. I wanted to try this rose but I don't have a lot of room left, so I just got one and keep it in a 15-gallon pot right now. Since it's such an outstanding rose, I'm sure will find a place for it in the ground. I remember looking up Julio Iglesias and liked its color but passed it because the review said it doesn't last long in a vase. Helen

Thanks Sultry. You're right. The medium pink cupped blooms are Spirit of Freedom. The smaller white soft pink blooms are Angel Face. Helen

I absolutely adore stripped roses and that is a really beautiful example of how fabulous strippys can be .

Kristine, I think liking striped roses is an acquired taste. In the beginning I didn't understand about striped roses, but once I understand it, it's addictive, lol. Helen

Beautiful, of course!!! Yours look especially good with the solid complementary roses.

Thank you Vaporvac. You are right. The solid color roses complement the striped roses really well. Helen

RCT was my first stripey rose, then Peach Swirl. Beware, its a mighty slippery slope from there lol.

Sultry and Kristine, I'm afraid it's too late. I have close to 50 stripped roses which include some Dave Bang's roses, lol. Helen

@Glimmer of Hope This rose looks delicious!... it is so uniquely colored and almost like something out of a fairy tale. Would you mind sharing a picture of where you have or planted??? I would love to see the entire plant and get a sense the overall look of it in the landscape.
