Indoor Drip Irrigation - Am I crazy?

Remodeling a house down to the studs. Would love to fill the house with plants, but overwhelmed by the thought of having to water all of them continuously, and having to arrange for someone to water while we are traveling (once that is possible again).

I asked my contractor if we could install an irrigation drip line running thru the walls and he looked at me like I was crazy, saying I was inviting disaster. This may be 100% naive, but if it is possible to install regular plumbing lines without fear of them exploding in the walls (we live a moderate climate, no freezing), then why not a parallel system of irrigation lines. They could be attached to a regular drip timer.

Has anyone done this?
