Tina , these are gorgeous!!!! I think I have the same fuschia , as your hot pink one ? I found it in pink and electric yellow. I hope my hummers like it . Your moss is to die for. There is something about moss the thrills me to death! It’s such a beautiful plant. It smells so good and feels so nice to touch .

I actually have an accidental bed of hostas (thought they were dead- NOPE!), azalea, hydrangea, and roses.

I really like the contrasting greens and foliage textures.

Honestly my biggest challenge is the big

leaf maples. They are so thick it’s hard for sun and rain to get through and the roots....ugh they are everywhere and steal all the water!

Still, I love them so they stay.

As much as I love your roses and perennials, I'm crazy about your mossy trees. We're considered Pacific North West, too, but what a difference being east of the Cascades. We're closer to Diane's desert. Love how you've used that decaying stump and the quiet, restful look of it all.

Gargamel, it is a cape fuschia, very strong grower in part shade for me

There's something wonderfully soothing about a garden like yours, oursteelers, where everything is green and lush, and there isn't the constant pressure of not having quite enough water. The moss is magical, and your flowering plants are lovely. It's a very harmonious and somehow relaxing scheme, in the best way.

mxk3, I love iris. It was one of the first plants I grew. My grandma told me you can grow them anywhere so in my yard they do get a good amount of shade but they’re still pretty happy and every time I look at them I think of her

ingrid, everything is green now-we’ve had a pretty cool, wet spring but I don’t water the grass in the summer (every drop has to go to the plants) so in summer it starts to get pretty brown

linda-thank you. My old yard was much smaller so it took me a minute to realize the value of hardscape, I always just wanted more plants. I’ve learned it looks a bit better with some structure

nw, yes moss does love my trees! Almost as much as I do:)

adelaide trust me there are plenty of junky spots-you should see the strawberry patch😳 I keep telling myself that will be this weekends chore but there are other areas that call to me...and you should see the other side of the fence (we have to maintain that too and it’s been too to burn so it just keeps growin) ai yi yi...well that’s a gardener‘s life, right?
