Sharing Before & After Kitchen remodel 1920's house

Purchased our home 3 years ago and found it nearly impossible to work in the existing kitchen space. The old kitchen was a very unique floor plan and was broken up with an alcove for a desk and a wall behind the stove in which the backside of the wall served as narrow shelved pantry. Refrigerator stuck out completely in the room and you could not open the lower drawers if the dishwasher was open. Im 5'5" and the countertops came up to my ribcage.

We completely gutted everything with the exception of the steel Hope windows, we also took out the wall the divided the dinning from the kitchen and the swing door to the kitchen.

I agree! I have designed our kitchen a couple of times, and I'm SO glad that the timing wasn't right to build the first version. This has taken us years...hubby is a GC.

Best advice is to take your time. We would have had a completely different kitchen had we not taken our time.

Very unique choices to fit within the footprint, but it all works. I love the cabinet you made with carved Asian doors panels.

Panels were from a Tibetan Monastery. There were originally 4 panels but we only wanted to use 3 for the pantry.

At first I thought the 'before' was the after! The photos you posted look a lot like the pretty white kitchens you see so much now....plus white refrigerators are coming back in ;)

Beams in dining room are original to 1920's, we made the kitchen beams mimic the dining room

Jenny Z ... I love the Cornufe and almost always use the convection side of the double oven. The cooktop is incredible
