I was surprised at how many daylilies were blooming this morning. Several had ffo's that I hadn't expected.

Regal Sunrise is a new one from hybridizer Matt Meadows of Regal Daylilies in Michigan. I look forward to using it for hybridizing with my red seedlings. I expect the gold edge will be much wider when it settles in a bit and with higher temps. It's only been in the ground for a short time, so I'm pleased with this ffo.



Salty Dog is one I got two years ago, but this is the first time to bloom. The petal color is very white and the eye and edge a dark, dark purple. It's a diploid.



This is a new seedling I'm very excited about out of Dancing Flamingo and Bubblegum Delicious. It's a 7 incher on 32 inch scapes with at least 15 buds on each of its scapes. One of the scapes has four-way branching. This is the first year for it to bloom. The bloom is rounder than Dancing Flamingo and more of the Bubblegum Pink that BD is supposed to be. I look forward to crossing it with my other pink seedlings to see if it will add flower size, scape height, and good branching to the offspring.


Here's the Jungle Queen seedling I first showed yesterday. With night temps a little warmer, today's bloom wasn't quite the true purple it was when overnight temps were in the 50s. The purple color has more red tones today, but the white darts coming out of the throat are more pronounced.

    These are all pretty but my favs are the seedlings. Wow! Anything pink and 7 inches catches my eye and appreciation!! Love it!

    Very pretty post. I like both of the seedlings very well and Regal Sunrise is a beautiful red. Hopefully that Dancing Flamingo seedling will continue to do so well since it is a pretty one with a great color. Dearest Valentine had two blooms and they do have a bicolor look for some reason. My place tends to do that as it does it with Long Legged Lap Dancer too.

    Your seedlings are my favorites today, the white darts on the Jungle Queen seedling make it a special bloom. I like the Bitone effect today on the BD and DF seedling. Regal Sunrise is a great red, hopefully a good parent for you. I’m looking forward to seeing what your newbies do the rest of the season!

    Pretty seedlings. I can see why you are happy with the pink. I still like your Jungle Queen seedling. It's simple form, saturated color and the white darts appeals to me. How colorfast is it?............Applique's pretty, but I'm still on the fence about that pattern. Too much pattern can distract the eye from the overall effect, but then I do like the pattern on Billie the Kid. Go figure......Always like seeing Razor's Edge. Pretty good splotch free ffo.....The red one is pretty too. I'm not a huge fan of red, but yesterday I was thinking I need another red with the colorfast saturation and depth of color as Acquire the Fire. I know you favor reds, so will be interested in any you have like that as you post in the future..............Maryl

    Wow. They are all looking beautiful. So jealous here. I have 30 scapes just waiting to bloom and it is 88 degrees here. Something should happen soon.

    Maryl - The purple seedling was still looking good after a 91 degree day - but there was very little humidity. We'll have to see if it melts on a hot and humid day. There are very few reds with the colorfastness of Acquire the Fire. I used to grow one at the same time I had Acquire the Fire that was nearly as colorfast. Its name was Forever Red, an older Kirchhoff. By the way, I just realized this is Tuesday and not Monday. LOL Incorrect title for post.

    If I did not have my phone, I don't think I would ever know what day is is any more!! After 3 months of staying home I no longer have an internal calendar!!!
