I dont want to burst the creative bubble, but I dont think you need to do anything to the ceiling other than paint it white, that way some of that lost light can bounce around the room a little.

It would help to see the rest of the room.

I love an interesting ceiling as much as the next person, but if its a more modern build, paint it white and call it a day. Were it a 19th century house, tin or some other ornamentation might make sense. This doesn't seem like a home of that era.

Paint it white or try a white with a tiny tint of blue like an outdoor porch ceiling.

agree. the light is great, but I don't see any reason to make a big deal of the ceiling. just bright and out of the way.

No, that just collects dust and in a kitchen, I think smooth surfaces are better. people do not walk around looking up, so they catch a glimpse of your fixture and move on. white will be the best option to make it the star of the show.
