Tiger Swallowtails!!

I wish I had a picture, but I have only seen them in flight. I purchased a 2+ acre old farm house in December. Now that spring/summer is here, I am able to identify many of the trees and shrubs. I have several wild cherries, which are the host plant for these beautiful butterflies. In the last few days, I have seen these butterflies multiple times, and hope to have them all summer. I am planting annual and perennial nectar sources, plus allowing the clover in my “lawn” to bloom and multiply.

I also have multiple native plants growing in wintersown containers that are awaiting transplant. But, I need to prepare beds, or subject them to competition from grasses and other perennial weeds. It is a work in progress.
