I love Fighting Fire and Wall of Fire, but Venetian Pools is my favorite today. Stenciled Infusion is a beauty!

Quite a few wowzers here!! Love the reds, especially the new acquisition. Still liking Skater a lot and I like the pink on Pink Extraordinaire. Thomas Tew is not very tall for but blooms are always above foliage so I am OK with that. Mine had its last bloom yesterday. I have had Stenciled Infusion and am wondering if it truly is. Mine just looks ordinary with no “stenciling”. I may need to post a photo so you can give me your thoughts.

Core Values won me over today, just gorgeous. I also like the simplicity and color of Odds and Ends. Woman in a Red and Pink Extraordinare are at the top of the list too. I like the color on Stone Palace Rejoice today, I’m guessing that’s what we are supposed to see.

Kay - That is the cleanest petal color I've seen on Venetian Pools. The soaking rain we had a couple of days ago must have worked some magic. The pattern is always good on that one - no matter how hot it is. But the petal color usually looks a bit muddy.

Sherry - Core Values is a beauty, and it has a lot of scapes, so I'll probably have groups of flowers on that one for awhile. Odds and Ends does have a lovely lavender color. If you want some, give me a shout. The clump is getting too big. I did post Stone Palace Rejoice because of it's nice color today.

Kate - Show me a photo of your Stenciled Infusion. I'll know if it's the right plant. There's another daylily called Stenciled Impressions. Maybe you have that one instead.

Wow, oh wow, they all look so great. Love the colors on the 1st 4 photos, great blooms! Can't wait til Stenciled Infusion blooms here! Venetian Pools won't bloom for at least a week here I think. I have been wanting another red, and been eyeing Fighting Fire, but really like Lady in REd there now. Pink Extraordinaire and Skater caught my eye too, great photos!

Nancy - I hope Stenciled Infusion looks good for you. It seems it hasn't done as well for other forum members as it has for me. Mine does not have as many buds this season as it has in the past. I wonder if that's because the clump is getting too large, or because of those two late freezes we had. It has at least 13 fans now, but I don't think all of them scaped. I'm not sure I can recommend Fighting Fire north of here since I almost lost it during a bad winter. I do love its blooms though. Dan Hansen says Woman in Red resists splotchiness, but it's been splotchy here the past two days of our heavy, heavy dew. The photo I posted is from three days ago. The best red I grow is Buddy's Red Head. It doesn't have that white edge, but it's a solid performer and multiplier every year.

Now that picture of Facemaker is more to my liking. Figures it's the last bloom. I can't put into words why it appeals to me so much. Just so clean looking I guess. As a hybridizer you need to work on one just like that but even better for me - big LOL.........I like Fighting Fire for a red. ........This bloom on Tranquil Waters is even prettier then the last, and Striker is still very showy......BTW: I've had a small accident and my pinky finger is all bandaged up. Painful to type as well as hard. I may not be able to type very well for a few days but keep the pictures coming.........Maryl

Maryl - So sorry about your pinkie finger. Hope it heals quickly! I figured your would like that photo of Facemaker. So far, almost all the crosses I made with Facemaker are aborting in the heat.

Debra, here is my Stenciled Infusion-and not Stenciled Impression-purchased from Schreiners and this is second year of blooms-last year I wrote off to settling in-

Technically I guess it has all the components but they are all mashed together and nothing stands out for me in the flower. What do you think?

Kate - Wow, it looks similar, but not the same. The eyezone is a much darker color than mine, and edge more prominent. Also there's not much differentiation in the outside eye and the inside eye color. I wonder if it could be a seedling out of Stenciled Infusion that got mislabeled and then propagated by Schreiner's as the real deal. I know you, Kay, and Mantis have all been disappointed with the cultivar, and I suspect you all got it from Schreiner's. I'm on a FB daylily site with Bill Maryott, and he mentioned this spring that he has never been able to get a seedling out of Stenciled Infusion that is as good as the original. Is your bloom a six incher?

It is more like five inches I think. And yes, you are correct about the differentiation which is exactly what I noticed. That is why I said it looks all muted together. Same components but not distinguished. I don't know-I may email them and see what they say. To me, even their web site picture does not look as clear as yours does. Thanks for looking at it and giving me your input. As you can see, it is pretty but one that I just glance at as I pass by. Nothing spectacular to pull me in!

Kate - I looked at the Schreiner's site to see if there was anything similar they could have sent you by mistake, but I didn't see anything. Their photo of Stenciled Infusion appears to be the right cultivar, but that is likely Maryott's photo of the original real deal.

Mine is clearly Stenciled Infusion and it is moving to a bed where most daylilies do really well...near EITV and my cat named daylilies. It did put up a second scape which makes me nervous It is a beautiful bloom.

Thanks for the info Debra! I really, really want a GOOD red, preferably with nice white edge. And no splotches. I love Born to Run when it is nice, I am not sure it can be beat then, but it is often splotchy. I have thought about Buddy's Red Head, heard good things about it, but it does not have that edge. Still, I could use a few more reds

Nancy - Born to Run was always splotchy here. I think it had two good days out of the six years I grew it. You can't beat Fighting Fire for prettiness, but hardiness is another issue. I have it planted in two places. It seems to do better planted closer to the house - at least the scapes are a bit taller on that one. Neither has 27 inch scapes. They range from 20-25 here.
