From Pinks to Darks and Everything In Between

Here are some of the daylilies that had theie ffo's in the last two days.


American Doll - I divided this one into four smaller clumps last fall and moved them to two different locations. Boy did those fans multiply once they were divided. The two clumps next to my shed have taller scapes than in the past. The two clumps by the front of the house have shorter scapes than usual.



Amethyst Prism looking a bit faded after the stretch of temps in the mid 90s.



Clown Parade is so well budded! It hasn't multiplied, but it sure built those buds and branches. It will likely be one of my bud kings this year.

Inviting Romance


Men in Black has had a rough Spring. Deer ate two scapes, and then a third got broken in a storm a few days ago. The clump was so pretty last year. This year it will look sparse.


Rowena Yaeger - This one is loaded with scapes and buds!


Dancing Flamingo has had similar problems to Men in Black. Something - likely a rabbit - ate one of the scapes early on. Then thrips attacked the plant. A few days ago, a storm broke one of the scapes.


I'm always so happy to see Se*y Samantha's pretty face.

    Cindy's Tie Dye - Thanks for the trade, Nancy. It is beautiful, and I love the shape. I crossed it with Core Values and a brand new seedling this morning.

    Too bad Men in Black and Dancing Flamingo met accidents this year, they are both so pretty. Of course I love Clown Parade. I don't think Clown Parade is quite so well budded here this year, but it does have plenty. I would be sulking if it took off for a year. I am glad Cindy's Tie Dye is blooming for you. It is not a good multiplier for me, and not tons of buds, but so very pretty. It is capable of buds though, so maybe another year or so you will see that. I have had a couple of years where some scapes had 17 to 21 buds, so you may have better luck than I do. I really like the bloom.

    All are beautiful! My favorites today are Cindy's Tie Dye, Triple Delight (I love the shape of the eye) and Dancing Flamingo. I hope the critters stay away from your daylilies.

    Jen - I got Clown Parade from a forum member. I've been buying daylilies for years. Most of them came from the Lilly Auction.

    Nancy - Wow! I didn't know Cindy's Tie Dye was capable of 17-20 buds. It's got four or five for me. this time. My husband really likes it. He doesn't normally like the patterned ones, but he liked Cindy's shape.

    Dancing Flamingo is looking good again this year. Wall of Fire has gorgeous color! Cindy’s Tie Dye has a lot of pretty stuff going on!! All of these look good!!

    Inviting Romance, such a beauty And S. Samantha caught my eye today. Twirling Tower, such a nice new addition, another delicate one with great form. How many new seedlings are you still waiting to bloom???

    Trying again............ Inviting Romance , Clown Parade , Men in Black , Forty Days and Forty NIghts , and Twirling Tower are all ones that particularly appeal to me . Nothing wrong with any of the others just the ones mentioned make me stop and stare

    Sherry - A lot of new seedlings have bloomed in the last few days that I haven't shown yet. I think I have 14 still to bloom, and some that could scape later.

    Hoosier Nan - I bought Triple Delight because of the shape of the eye. It gets it from parent Tully Mars, which I have. Unfortunately I've never succeeded in producing any seedlings from Tully or Triple Delight.

    Brad and Julia - Twirling Tower looks better than I expected. I hope it will bloom on taller scapes next year. After all, it is a "tower."
