I guess this started last year when I first saw the moths, but I saw no damage and was reluctant to treat because I don’t want to harm the butterfly cats.

Fast forward to about a 2 weeks ago when I saw the moths again But no damage. Then just before the rains started, our lawn was suddenly just gone almost overnight.

So I used the spray I had bought last year (a form of bT) and some granules that are cornmint oil. I try to use the least amount of toxicity possible. Then the rains started and I keep treating but don’t really know if anything has stuck long enough.

With our poorly drained lawn (we’ve done all we can do to it over the last 20 years so it is what it is and my beds are raised enough) I think they are being drowned out from where they normally hide. I can literally see them crawling over the top of the lawn. They are on the driveway, pool deck, and even IN the pool (well they’re dead in the pool and in the standing water that is left).

Is this drowning or the treatment working?

Most importantly, do I need to break down and go for something strong at this point? I mean they are right there on top so I feel that if I’m going to go toxic, this is the time.
