Am I sensing a theme here?

Walking around the garden I noticed that I do seem to have a bias toward a certain shade of red.

I didn't really put it together with some sort of master plan. Just saw what I liked at various times and brought it home.

My lone Geranium:

One of my absolute favorite reds (very colorfast for a dark color in high heat).

Wayah Valley:

Then there's the noid Zinnia I spotted at Ace Hardware and just had to have:

And then there's my other color pop daylily Burning Inheritance. Not fancy, but another one that does well in high heat:

Burning Inheritance:

I think I may be onto something-lol..................Maryl

Very nice cheerful color too. Everyone knows reds are my color. This particular red is a NOID since I bought it about 13 or 14 before i discvered the daylily forum and daylilies on Garden Web. I bought it for the color and the sun never affects it in the least and we have some sun! It is in what is probably one of the very worst places in my garden and it blooms away.

From the photos, it would seem You like orangey reds. I could never understand why you didn't like SC Francis Busby. To me it falls in that category, and it's often on the very orangey side of red here. But you called it rusty. I agreed it was somewhat rusty, but not rusty in a bad way. I wonder if it had something to do with the soil or your extreme heat.. You are the first of my daylily friends who didn't like Francis. But maybe her color on a daily basis was affected by your string on 100-degree temperatures.

Debra: I know that lots of people swoon over SC Francis Busby but it just wasn't my color. In person it was more rusty red then orange red. I wanted to like it so much too. It even photographs my color. Oh well. Never know until you see them in person do you?

Kay: Your orange red Noid sounds very nice especially if it's colorfast......Julia: Thanks for taking a peek. Yours should be along any time now too...............Maryl

Well, yes, on a color wheel, I think the arrow would stop at the same place for these! I love red zinnias (sorta like yellow daylilies). And that Wayah Valley daylily looks good every time you post it. I understand why you are on the hunt for colorfast reds!

Nancy: You among others see SC Francis Busby as orange red. I didn't like the edge color either. Gold is usually not my thing. Just gets down to taste I think. No good or bad to it. Thanks for looking........Maryl
