Just my personal taste. I am in the building process right now too. I would keep it simple and not make it too “busy”, if you know what I mean. I would have all drawers be the same pull, and then have all the cabinets (upper and lower) be the same. Meaning different on drawers and cabinets, but same in each category. And, you are right ... no pull on “fake” drawer.

I wouldn't put the t-bar on any lower cabinets at all. I have square knobs on some lower cabinets, and my teenagers have ripped their pockets on them too many times--one knob has been bent out of shape from the repeated catches. I'd stick with the pulls (love them!) on any and all lowers, sized appropriately.

As for the sink tilt outs, I'd actually go for extra long pulls there that can double as towel bars.

@jkent9024 you would do pulls on the lower cabinets as well? There are only 3 base cabinets with doors [so 6 potential spots]. good to know about snagging. bummer.

I like pulls on drawers, knobs on doors. I agree, keep it simple and uniform. And I also agree with no "t" knobs on any lower doors, pockets will snag and rip.

Yeah, I would go all knobs on uppers, all pulls on lowers. Actually, that's what I'm intending to do in our new build.

I agree with megs1030. I have done (and am going to do on my house I’m building right now)- Knobs on doors and Pulls on drawers. I personally would not do the back plate. But, I’m the person who doesn’t want the cabinet hardware to be front and center. Just add to the overall look.

Just to clarify. I wouldn’t use the backplate on the knobs. I love it on the pulls.

I really like the pull with the plate. I would do pulls on all, not cup pulls, not cone or t-bar. Sometimes I think I made a mistake with mine having so many knobs. It’s distracting.

Side question...can you open your fridge without filler on the right side?

here are ones without backplate. But I dig the backplate of course.

I see some concerns with your choice - at least for me. The pulls seem to have both texture and visible screws. That is going to be very difficult to clean. Things/food, etc. will get stuck in the screws and on the textured surface of the pulls/knobs as well. To me this would be a nightmare. Cool looking, sure, practical, no.

I like the backplate better.

Me too. I still say back plate on pulls. 6.5 pulls with backplate on all drawers and knobs WITH backplate (which now I think I’ve changed my mind on) on all cabinets. Yep ... hard decision. 😉

@Trish Walter those back plate pulls and knobs are neat! In my kitchen I did knobs on all the cupboards and pulls on all the drawers. I did two 160 mm pulls per drawer on our really wide 42" drawers, the medium width 20" drawers I did a 160 mm and the smaller 17" width drawer we did 128 mm. I tried to equalize the space on the left and right of the pull between all the drawers. I'm glad I went with differing widths and it doesn't make the kitchen look busy. I think a kitchen starts to look busy when multiple styles of pulls, multiple widths and knobs are used! I don't think you can go wrong with the pulls you have chosen. (I do agree to avoid the t bar on the lower cabs due to snagging pockets.

I have 8 base drawer cabinets with >30" drawers and I'm worried 6 5/16" will be too small [heard average 1/3 width which would be at least 10"]. Thoughts?

Some areas I'm wishy washy on but here's my plan. Critique if needed.

1)For Flip-Down sink I am planning Pulls and not knobs. Will they break if they try to pull thinking it's a drawer and it's not ? Would a knob make more sense?

2) the Pull Out Lower Cabinet next to the Double Ovens The cabinet right above is normal cabinet. so I'd put a knob there since it's an upper.

I am thinking I treat it like a drawer and do horizontal pull.

3) Trash Pull-outs. I'm thinking I also treat them like drawers with horizontal Pull. Correct?

Here is a pic of my kitchen cabinets from house we just sold. (We are in a rental while building our new house). Below my stove top we had very big drawers, (which I loved, and am doing again, for plates and bowls). As you can see I put two handles on my big drawers ... so, just a thought. I did not put a pull/knob on my kitchen pull down in front of sink. It opened fine without a any attachment. It was just a hidden gem.

Here is another angle. My trash bin is left of the kitchen sink. It got a pull, since it looked like a cabinet, except the pull was in the center on top.

I like your pulls so much better without the backplate. But, it's your house. You need to go for what YOU like.

IMO, I don't like it, the ridges on the handle looks like will keep more dirt and will be a pain to clean. Plus, the ridges reminds me of the pistol grip on my AR-15. Just my 2 cents.

I keep thinking that you'll need to clean out those ridges with a toothpick. - That would be a no for me.

I had the same thought about the backplates too. We put in shaker cabinets when we renovated two years ago. Those little tiny “ledges” on the drawer faces catch all manner of crumbs, etc. I can see the backplates adding more ledges that require regular cleaning.

Can you all help with sizing and styles regardless of whether you like the particular handle [I get it and am contemplating]

My recent renovation experience might help with the sizing. We did pulls on all drawers and cabinets (no knobs). I’d read the same 1/3 rule and, like you, would’ve ended up with several different sizes and some really long pulls. Fortunately, our kitchen designer and contractor both said “stop!” We ended up with just two sizes — 11” on the “longer” cabinets and drawers and 6” on the “shorter” ones.

Here’s a picture of the kitchen so you can see how it looks over all and one of the pantry area so you can see how the two sizes mix.

Personally, I am not a fan of all pulls. I think it’s just too much. And, if you are going with the ones you chose, all with backplate, your cabinet hardware will overwhelm the kitchen. I think that is a lot of emphasis on your cabinet hardware. Do you really want that to be the center of attraction? Just something to consider.
